First and foremost I’d like to thank the outgoing President Bill Reece for his contribution of time and dedicated work effort over the past 20 years to make the club what it is today. Thank-you Bill. I am pleased to know that Bill is not leaving but stepping back to Vice-President.
I became a member of our club about 7 years ago because of my interest in fossicking. I like cutting cabochons and grinding, sanding and polishing stones. I enjoy learning to work with silver and how to bezel set cabochons.
Over the years I have served the club as chief BBQ and night watchman during Gem Festivals, Cabochon Instructor, as Vice- President (for the past 12 months) and now as elected President.
I would like to thank all members for bestowing that honour on me, for having faith and the trust in me to be President of the club. No individual possesses the knowledge, skill, time and experience to operate the club alone.
We have a great Committee. Welcome to Tammi as Assistant Secretary and Joe as Treasurer.
With the help of all members, working together, to achieve goals and assisting in the smooth operation of our increasingly successful club, it will be something we can all be proud of.
I would like to promote the club as a good fun, happy club where friendships are made and where caring and sharing, helping others and being considerate ought to be a priority.
We have a fantastic club. All the visitors mention this.
As members we are all hosts. When you notice visitors or new members walk in and look lost. I encourage you to please, give them a warm welcome. Introduce yourself and then introduce them to other members. Show them around the club. Explain what we create here.
I also thank all the instructors and members and look forward to the next twelve months.
